Type Locality and Naming
Tete Province (Lower Zambezi Basin)
Lithology and Thickness
Comprised of gravel is either massive or crudely bedded, with a matrix composed of fine to coarse sand. The clasts are irregular and angular, mostly red-colored and granitic in composition, often with casts of potentially intrabasinal pelitic clasts. The transition to Arcosic sand is likely gradual, and there is weak or non-grading observed.
The Arcosic sand ranges from medium to very coarse, sometimes containing pebbles. Trough cross-beds are interbedded within the Arcosic sand, which itself ranges from medium to coarse, occasionally containing pebbles. Planar cross-beds are predominantly 10 cm to less than 1 m in size. Overlaps in the beds often show load casts marks. Additionally, there is Arcosic sand that is fine to medium-grained, featuring low-angle planar cross-stratification.
Lithology Pattern:
Coarse-grained sandstone
